Quiz Competition Year 2026 - Guidelines for Participation
Quiz Scope and Content
The quiz will assess participants’ general knowledge of Arabic language, culture, history, and literature.
Questions will be designed to be accessible to a broad audience (ages 15–25) while still challenging participants’ understanding, speed, and teamwork.
Main Topics Covered
Arabic Language
- Basic vocabulary and meanings
- Common expressions and proverbs
- Simple grammar awareness
- Famous Arabic sayings
Arabic Culture & TradiAons
- Customs and traditions in the Arab world
- Food, clothing, and daily life
- Social values and cultural practices
- Festivals and celebrations
Arabic History
- Key historical events
- Important figures (e.g. ءاملعلا، ءافلخلا، ةداقلا)
- Islamic and Arab civilisation (general level)
- Contributions of Arabs to the world
Arabic Literature
- Famous poets and writers
- Well-known literary works
- Simple poetry recognition
- Quotes or extracts (basic understanding)
General Knowledge (Arabic Context)
- Geography of the Arab world
- Capitals and countries
- Landmarks and heritage sites
- Current general knowledge related to the Arab world
Level of Questions
- Questions will range from easy to moderately challenging
- Focus on:
o general awareness
o quick thinking
o team discussion - No specialised or highly academic knowledge is required
Language of the Quiz
- The quiz will be conducted primarily in Arabic
- Questions will be:
o Clear and simple
o Adapted for non-naAve speakers - Some clarification may be provided if necessary
How the Quiz Will Be Conducted
Round 1 – Multiple Choice
- One question per team
- 4 options (A–D)
- 15 seconds to answer
- Focus: basic knowledge
Round 2 – Short Answer
- Direct quesAons requiring short responses
- 15 seconds
- Focus: recall and clarity
Round 3 – Buzzer Round (Rapid Fire)
- All teams compete
- First to answer gets the chance
- +10 / -5
- Focus: speed and confidence
Round 4 – Team Challenge
- More complex question or clues
- 20 seconds discussion
- Focus: teamwork and reasoning
Important Notes for Participants
- No prior specialised study is required
- Teams are encouraged to:
o Read broadly about Arabic culture
o PracAce quick responses
o Work effecAvely as a team
The quiz is designed to be both educational and enjoyable, promoting a deeper appreciation of the Arabic language and its rich cultural heritage.
